Sibgrapi 2009 - Workshop on Applications of Graphics for the Petroleum Industry

The Workshop on Applications of Graphics for the Petroleum Industry will be held for the first time in Sibgrapi in its 2009 edition. The idea of the Workshop is to present and discuss how computer graphics and user interface software can be used to develop technical and scientific applications for the petroleum industry.

The Workshop will comprise two main parts: the first will be an introductory lecture covering subareas of the petroleum industry that can benefit from the use of computer graphics, such as engineering, geology, seismic, reservoir, and health and environment. Also during this lecture the main research groups using computer graphics in these areas in Brazil and their work will be presented briefly.

During the second part of the Workshop, representatives of each research group and two technicians from Petrobras, the leading Brazilian oil & gas company, will discuss the main strategies employed to develop computer graphics software for the petroleum industry, including technical issues, partnerships and human resources.

The Workshop on Applications of Graphics for the Petroleum Industry is scheduled to last 1 hour and 30 minutes during one of the three mornings of the Symposium.

Chairs

Enio Russo, Geovan Tavares and Marcelo Gattass.
